The single most effective thing you can do on your own to help alleviate your head, neck, and back pain is to get up and move around. We would not suggest you run a marathon with a bad back, but sitting on the couch will only make things worse. Studies have shown that a reasonable exercise routine is more effective at staving off muscle loss than growing older! And since muscle loss is a major contributor to body soreness, especially in the neck and back, exercising daily is a very effective means of treating back and neck pain.
Exercise is also an effective treatment when recovering from an injury, especially an injury that has left you bedridden for a week or more. After days without muscle use, your muscles begin to atrophy or wear down. In this case the old saying, "If you don't use it, you lose it," rings all too true.
For these situations, Inline Chiropractic will create a weekly exercise routine for you to step your way back to health and wellness. Our plan begins slowly to rebuild muscle strength and develops into a regular routine that will keep you strong long after your recovery is complete.
Before you jump into your own corrective exercise routine, you should be aware that correcting a musculoskeletal problem through exercise will take time. You should be very careful not to push too much as over-exertion could make the problem worse. This is especially true for those recovering from an injury and/or surgery. You should also be aware that simply exercising, getting off the couch and moving around, is not the "be-all, end-all" solution. Depending on the nature of your injury, ailment, or source of pain, you will need to work specific muscle groups in order to rebuild the damaged area. This is where Inline Chiropractic can help.
The team at Inline Chiropractic will develop a corrective exercise routine for you based on your personal ailment or injury. Inline Chiropractic will explain to you what muscle groups should be targeted through your exercise and how strengthening these groups will help to alleviate your pain and regain mobility.
At Inline Chiropractic, we often include a modest corrective exercise regime in our personalized wellness plans to assist in eliminating back pain, neck pain, stiffness, and headaches. One of the indirect goals of chiropractic care is to increase circulation to assist the healing of the spine and other musculoskeletal pains. Light exercise can accomplish this same goal and is a very effective tool, along with chiropractic care, in eliminating body soreness, back pain and stiffness.
