The spine is your body's "nervous system highway". Every nerve throughout the human body will eventually connect with the spine. Because of this inter connectivity, stress or damage localized to the spine can result in pain anywhere in the body. If untreated, the damage or stress on the spine can degrade and enlarge the areas of pain and/or cause the pain experienced to intensify.
The most common symptom of spinal stress or injury is back pain. While the spine is your nervous system highway, damage to the spine affects more than the nerves. The pressure from a bulging disc, for instance, will cause a painful sensation along the nerve as well as in the muscles immediately around the bulge. Damage or stress at any point along the spine will have a similar effect to a bulging disc, causing pain in the area of the body associated with that spinal region as well as pain in the muscles within that region of the spine.
You can learn more about the specific areas of your spine and what areas of your body they affect by reviewing this spinal map.
Before we can eliminate your pain, we need to find the cause. At Inline Chiropractic, we use all of the latest techniques, equipment, and technology such as spinal & postural screening, x-rays, and of course the skilled hands of our doctor to pin-point the source of your ailment.
X-Ray: At times it can be difficult to determine the exact source of your pain. That is when we turn to x-ray. The x-ray illuminates the spine, emphasizing areas of misalignment, compression, bulging, and a number of other signs of damage. Once the source of your pain is established, our doctor will be able to provide treatment suggestions.
Now that the source of the pain is determined, we can begin correcting the problem. The doctor has a variety of techniques available to correct and treat almost any form of spinal damage or stress. The variety of chiropractic techniques accommodate both the efforts of our doctor to ease your pain and his effort to make each patient as comfortable as possible during their treatments.
A variety of corrective exercises can be very effective in alleviating your pain if the problem is circulation. Many times damage and stress to the spine will cause inflammation or swelling of the area which limits the flow of blood and air to the area, extending the time it takes the area to heal. For these situations, movement of the muscles around the area will increase the amount of blood and air the area receives, reducing the time it takes to heal.
The goal of Inline Chiropractic is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities we all enjoy. To meet this goal, we find it beneficial to educate our patients on their condition and how it will affect their daily lives. We do not want our patients "afraid" of any activity and so we "coach" each patient on certain activities they should avoid or activities they should do differently to avoid aggravating their condition. We see each of our patients as a whole person and while the spine can be the source of aches and pains, true health and wellness is only found through a collaborative, whole-body effort on the part of the Chiropractor and patient alike.
With a little guidance, anyone can integrate healthy eating habits into their life. Nutritional Coaching from Inline Chiropractic is not about counting calories or cutting our your favorite treat. Our plan for nutrition is about choices and how you can make the right one for every meal of the day.
Physiotherapy is a slight variation of physical therapy. Physical therapy is best suited for aiding recovery after a disease or injury. The target of physiotherapy is to restore or maintain physical and functional abilities. The exercises involved in physiotherapy are designed to strengthen the muscles around painful or low functioning areas of the body in order to restore functionality and reduce pain in the area which is done by alleviating stress on the joint's hard tissues.
Spinal & Postural Screening is another diagnostic procedure that provides a picture of your spine during your daily movements. In basic terms, the spinal & postural screening shows us how your spine lines up with the rest of your body. As your body moves and bends, pain from the damaged or stressed areas around the spine can be accentuated as the area moves back and forth between muscles, nerves, and bone.
